I’m using a Shield (older version) to stream music from a Windows PC. Much of my library was ripped to lossless WMA.
On the player, I can see the length of the track and the progress bar moves as if it is playing but no sound.
Oddly if I revert all updates in settings which loads a very old version of Plex to the Shield, it works fine.
Any ideas why this stopped working with the new version? I’m hoping the answer isn’t to rip everything to FLAC, although WMA seems to be more of a pain every passing year.
Exactly same problem here…one funny thing was, when I first noticed the issue, my old mp3 tracks where still playing, not the WMA…recently tried again (after an update to Plex), now none of tracks play…I was relating to recently activating the DNLA Server in Plex to direct stream tracks to my speaker with BubbleUpnp, not sure…but still didn’t had the time to test that theory…
force close the plex app on the SHIELD, then reopen the plex app and immediatly go
and try and play the music.
if it works after force closing, then its the same bug as many others have been reporting for last 3 months for music - it doesnt matter the format of the music for this bug.
I’m having the same issue. Mp3s are fine, just my lossless wma files are a no go. The track time goes to about 4 seconds into the song and then reverts right back to the start and continues the cycle. Works fine on any other device, web player, iPad, Android, just not my first gen shield.
I have this issue and am current on all releases both on the Nvidia Shield and Plex. It is a real problem and keeps me from playing many of my albums and playlists. A serious bug!
I don’t know if this was supposed to be fixed with the latest update (which I installed recently) but I also am facing this issue.
All my wma won’t play (I tried force closing plex & rebooting => no change) while m4a files are OK.
Will you post an update message when the issue is solved?
