Loud sound effects on 5.1 audio

I know that this is one of the most asked question on different forums, and I know the answer is usually the same, but the typical solutions didn't solve anything so I thought I'll try my luck here. I have a Sony Bravia TV connected to my Raspberry Pi, and recently when I try to play a movie with 5.1 audio, the sound effects are too loud while the spoken words are almost impossible to hear. I know that the problem is related to the TV assuming that there is 5 speaker connected, while there is only 2 (TV speakers), so I can only hear the front left and right channels (which are mostly dedicated to sound effects) while the center channel (spoken words) is almost completely lost. The sound is perfectly fine when I play a blueray on my PS3, so I guess the problem is somewhere with the Rasplex. I looked everywhere for sound options and everything in the Audio Output settings is as it's supposed to be (HDMI, all the check boxes unchkecked and audio out put channels set to 2.0). Is there anything else I can try?

I run one of my Rasplex boxes through a Sony Bravia KDL32W653 and don't get this problem, is the audio codec for the video you are trying to play AC3, DTS or AAC5.1?  Have you got 'Boost volume level on downmix' checked? Have you played the same file through Plex Web on a laptop/phone/tablet (all got two speakers, same as TV), if so, is the sound OK?

Also worth checking this out (although not all of the options are available in Rasplex) https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201214687-Audio-Configuration-Guide-Plex-Home-Theater

Thanks man. Actually, I think checking the 'Boost volume level on downmix' helped a bit. At least now I don't have to turn the volume up and down every 30 seconds.

I think the problem is still there on my laptop via web player, so the problem may not be related to RasPlex, I'm not sure though because I can't remember which files I've had the most problem with.
