Rasplex 1.0.1 Released!

Today we release Rasplex 1.0.1.

This is a bugfix release fixing the annoying downmix bug.

Read more about the release notes here:

Please report any bugs to tiny.cc/rasplex-bugs.

Enjoy!

oooo :-/ I’ll check it out

Brilliant work, guys. As an added bonus due to the new rPi firmware, Interlaced VC-1 encoded files now play without pixelation, stuttering, etc. Kudos for making the case even more clear that this is the best Plex client around!

I’m still experiencing extremely low volume on DTS streams. I tried fiddling with the center channel boost option, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to do anything for me (does 30 = maximum volume?). I have my Raspberry Pi 2 hooked on a Sony Bravia W805b.

According to the (audio guide)[forums.plex.tv/discussion/181255/rasplex-guide-to-audio-settings], my TV supports:

PCM supported: Max channels: 6, Max samplerate: 48kHz, Max samplesize 24 bits.
AC3 supported: Max channels: 6, Max samplerate: 48kHz, Max rate 640 kb/s.

Dam no HiFiBerry for movies. :frowning:

The center channel boost setting controls how much of the center channel is mixed into left/right channel on downmix (0 = lowest or none, 30 = max, 6 should be a good value with a little more center then left/right).
The boost volume on downmix setting controls if volume should be normalized (off) or boosted (on).

If you have the channels setting set to 5.1 then RasPlex will only convert DTS to LPCM and send it to the TV where a possible downmix will be done and the volume boost settings in RasPlex will not have any affect.
Try changing to 2.0 or 2.1 depending on your speaker setup if you want RasPlex to boost the volume.

Adding HiFiBerry support for movies unfortunately requires an update from the old Frodo code base to something newer and is not something that is done quickly.
Next major version will be based on Kodi Isengard (or Jarvis) and will bring lots of improvements including full hifiberry support once it is finished, no eta yet.

In addition to what @kwiboo states and assuming that you are connected via HDMI to a TV, for your setup you need the following settings in Preferences->System->Audio output:

Dolby Digital capable receiver - unchecked
Dolby Digital Plus capable receiver - unchecked
DTS capable receiver - unchecked
Boost volume level on downmix - checked
Boost centre channel when downmixing - between 0 and 6, according to personal preference.
Audio output channels - 2.0

The response you got from tvservice -a indicates that the audio output of the TV can pass LPCM5.1 and AC3 (Dolby Digital) to a capable device, i.e. soundbar, not that your TV is capable of accepting 5.1 sound on passthrough, most TV’s only have 2 speakers.

Hope that helps.

Regards

@NedtheNerd @Kwiboo Thank you for your replies. I tried changing the settings based on your suggestions. I changed the audio output channel to 2.0 and unchecked AC-3 (although AC-3 plays fine), E-AC-3 and DTS, but the volume on DTS is still extremely low (even with center channel boosted to 30), while AAC stereo streams can be heard if I turn up the volume to 50-60.

@gjorgji.d
i have same problem with dts/dolby. to increase audio from central channel, when you start a video play pause, select sound preferences, second entry is “volume amplification”. increase volume aplification (10 or 20 might be ok).

also, i noticed that if you uncheck “use FFMPEG AVIO for Network transport” from “preferences/advanced video” reduces A LOT the problem of low volume from central channel when playing videos with 5.1 audio (downmixed)

Check the volume level in PHT, use one of +/F4/F10 key on a keyboard and increase the PHT volume to max.
My guess is that you have a similar problem as described at [SOLVED][FRODO RC2] Extremely low volume with DTS Transcode

Thank you everyone for your help. I finally managed to solve this thanks to @stefano_p. I opened “audio and subtitle settings” to see that the volume is set to -42.0 dB. Now AAC and DTS is working perfectly. I boosted the center channel to 6 to match the loudness of AC-3 streams. Sheesh, I had this problem since 0.7.0, but got worse with 1.0.0.

I used the updater to go from 0.6.0 to 1.0.1, probably something went wrong along the way.

As far as I can see so far my problem with “compressed audio” is gone.
Will continue to check

Good to be back with RasPlex instead of PMP (I have a hard time to get used to the new GUI).

Trying to update from 0.7.0 to 1.0.1 via the internal updating in Rasplex and it doesn’t get very far. Downloads the update but doesn’t prompt me to install it. Any ideas? Best just removing the SD card and updating via a computer?

Once it has downloaded then a Home Screen option should appear to update.

Does anyone know where the confluence theme has gone? Has it gone for good, or has it just slipped a dev’s mind  If it is gone, how can one add it back? Need it to activate IPTV. Also, does anyone get a mini version of the startup colour squate in the top right corner every now and then?

Went for good many releases ago, won’t be back.

Coloured square is insufficient power get a new power supply, at least 2 amps.

I’m using rp2+rasplex as a remote client (transcoding only). Since the last two releases, the audio stream isn’t lipsync anymore. It’s not a huge unacceptable delay, maybe 100-200ms, but it’s perceptible. Curiously, the delay depends on the size of the media file (the longer the movie, the bigger the delay). I also figured that it is bigger if the audio stream is not transcoded (which is mostly the case, since my tv decodes ac3).

Anyone here with the same problem ?

best regards

Hey.

Since this update I’m getting no audio over analogue or optical anymore. Audio isn’t transcoded on any file whatsoever. This isn’t working on any version of the Raspberry Pi, and I’ve used multiple cables and speakers. (I’ve also set it through the Preferences)

Is anybody else having this problem, and are there any possible fixes?

Hi,

I have a TP-Link Archer T2U wifi dongle. Standard Raspbian does not support it. I was planning to use Rasplex on my rPi 2. Just wanted to know if Rasplex supports T2U wireless dongle out of the box or not?

Thanks,
