Android Auto is separate and has nothing to do with PlexAmp. It does need the regular Plex Android app to make the connection to your server. Connecting through PlexAmp wouldn’t make any difference.
Browse by artist or album was left out intentionally since the first version of Plexamp.
However, there is an (admittedly cumbersome) way: [Feature Request] Android - Browse Library - #2 by SimonXCIV
btw. try the “mix builder”.
Oh, that’s… weird! I’m sure there must be a reason behind that decision, I’ll have to hunt it down. Thanks for the info and the tips, I’ll look into them.
Plexamp is consciously “weird”. It is a playground for new concepts and ways to do things.
Yeah, I guess if I want that traditional player stuff I can just use the Plex app itself. I’ll let Amp continue to do it’s own little thing and see if I vibe with it’s style!
It’s fun to see them working on these things, but I’m not leaving Prism just yet. Too many missing features, and I’m not confident it will continue to be updated and improved. And if there are issues, will there be any help?
Intentionally? I wonder what is the logic behind this… Plex is mostly used by people who are very methodic with their music and have good organizational skills of what we own (we’re putting our own library content here), meaning there a big majority who would prefer browsing by Artist/Album/Genre, rather than throw everything to a playlist like Spotify or just browse random recently played lists…
Please bring back the Library browsing as I really love the design of the new PlexAmp, otherwise, I’ll be back for now to the regular Plex app ![]()
Thank you!
use the search it works well, and the mix builder == awesomesauce~
I expect another 2 years of useless requests to add Carplay
Honestly, with Plex devs knowing they can’t even really provide support for the core app, why not just build out the APIs, and let third party developers build the apps? I genuinely think it would be a better use of their time. Third party developers can (potentially) offer far better support for the apps they build. It would also mean fewer people bugging the Plex devs if there are issues.
They already can if they wanted. True the API’s are not well documented but that shouldn’t stop someone. There are already some unofficial 3rd party Plex clients like XPlay.
and prism
I’m not sure that’s accurate, that public APIs already exist for all the functionality they’ve put into Plexamp
Jjross how do you sync a specify length of time for radio station.
tap hold (or use 3 dots) > context menu > download
Thanks.
Anybody know if you can save a Mix builder that I create to play later.
When you have all the artists you want for your Mix Builder, click on the ellipsis (the 3 dots) to reveal the following options:
Play Mix…
Download Mix…
Play Radio
Download Radio…
its automatically saved to the ‘recent plays’ section.
you can re-play the mix (not the same tracks/order) any time. you can also tap-hold and > build custom mix to ‘edit’ it and/or change from mix to radio or vice versa.
mix = only selected artists
radio = selected artists + related artists
(I know its not very clear)
in the settings > playback > radio > degrees of separation, you can adjust the level of ‘relatedness’.
Thanks for the replay TeknoJunky, ok but if I play a lot of other music it would be harder to find that mix or maybe disappeared, so I think it would be nice to be able to save as mix or maybe as playlist.
Again thanks and stay safe.
