Loving PlexAmp for iOS

if you tap on the title of recent plays or > (top home page) it will show more.

(same for other sections headers)

I don’t know how long/how many, but I have about a dozen from the last 2+ months showing.

oh, and it should be apparent, but you can also delete them by tapping the x to the right of the list item.

What I would love to see is bean able to to make a mix from the song I am playing.

Yeah… this is a goal, but currently there isn’t metadata at the track level to support creating a mix from a song.

I second you, anton5k. I mean, who designed this app? The library function is literally the main function I use to browse my music. I don’t live off playlists and this app seems to be geared toward those only. Also, when you go to the section to finally find the full library, it does not lock and remain in that view. The instant you exit, the view resets.

I felt similar to you, PeterJH3, when I first started using Plexamp. I really wanted to browse by artist/album with some frustration. But the app is built around music discovery. I found that after a few days of playing with it I wasn’t missing browsing. There’s also the Mix Builder which does a great job of browsing around artists… very nice feature.

I get it, but I’ve cultivated my personal library for years. It took a lot for me to rebuild it from iTunes into Plex, because Apple did the same thing when Apple Music launched and it became integrated with cloud purchases, and basically destroyed my library. Now, I’m used to using Plex and its layout. This app, though, is not intuitive IMO. If it’s the way of it, then it’s just not for me.

I hope you give it a couple day try. If you’ve cultivated your music then the radios should work very well for you. I’ve enjoyed radios and mix builder quite a bit and if you have :tidal: try out the Discovery Radio… I’ve found a ton new music I would never have come across otherwise.

the thing to try to remember, plexamp works best with the radios/mixbuilder.

its not a library manager or even really a music browsing app.

once you dial it in (via radios/mixes) it simply excels at playing music you want to hear.

Thing is, I’m always in the mood for something specific — due to weather, time of day, time of year. I have 3 separate libraries for all artists, soundtracks, and holiday music. I can’t use the radio feature to get what exact genre that’s come to mind. I was shown this app only today by a friend of mine that’s a heavy Plex user himself. It just doesn’t function as I’d want it to for my use.

and that is completely ok, it doesn’t mean its wrong or bad.

its simply another option for people to use, or not use, to play music.

I am not sure what you mean here. There are all kinds of style options in style radio section (I couldn’t even get expanded screenshot to fully capture them all):

You can see a full list of genres/styles (sub-genres) here: Music Genres | AllMusic

For me style radio and mood radio are empty. Can you tell me why?

Style and mood are fetched from allmusic.com
Which in turn requires a library that has been converted to the new music program code
Which in turn requires the agent and the scanner selectors to be set to ‘Plex Music’

Just downloaded this on my iPhone, love the look and feel. The ability to download music is great. Creating a playlist didn’t work and couldn’t see any option to create a playlist from the downloaded music.

Hmm, its all set to Plex Music for a long time already.

Best to tackle that in a separate thread. Feel free to create one in the German forum.

Why was this standard feature for all music players intentionally left out? What was the thinking behind this decision? How are you then supposed to browse your media?

Clearly, you are not.

Did you try following this:

PlexAmp is not for everyone. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. Plex app on iOS still does all things you expect it to do.

Nice reply to a paying customer!
