I am struggling to get a decent resolution / direct streaming within my local network when I see a movie with my new LG WebOs6 from a NAS Synology (DSM7.0)
Whatever I do in the client setting for video quality (original, 4k, 1080 etc…) the client always set video to 720px . Plz see here
Is the TV local to or remote from the Plex server? “Location: WAN” implies remote, but always best to verify.
What is displayed in Plex Dashboard → Now Playing when streaming to the TV?
Is the connection local/remote/indirect?
If the TV is remote and Plex Dashboard displays a remote connection, check the bandwidth settings in the LG Plex app. The default for remote connections is 2 Mbps. Change it to Maximum/Original.
If the connection is Indirect, then the TV is connecting via Plex Relay. If this is happening, then verify that the server’s remote access is working correctly.
TV is in my local network.
I managed to fix tonight. I realized that this “plex relay” was the bottleneck/troublemaker.
When I disabled it I was not able to connect anymore to the server, as I was not able to have the LG app to work “locally”. Remote access gave me troubles either (it keeps disconnecting).
So in the LG app I wound Settings>advances and I moved both “allow unsecure connections” and “prefer unsecure connection” to Always from their default “on the same server network”.
counterintuitive but with my great joy, it start working in direct connection now, that for my usage is what I needed
