A fix would be appreciated. Using plex since 2010. Plexpass lifetime holder. Find this unacceptable
Kodi and Plex Kodi Connect worked for me. Sad though that this has gone as long as it has and no word on a native Plex fix.
+1 for this. Really annoying that remote control functionality removed to make it unusable. Have to use the built in TV app now rather than displaying direct from my MacMini. Please fix, Plex!
+1 for this as well. Why is it taking so long to fix?
It sucks that this still isn’t fixed, but I’d recommend Remote Buddy. It fixed the problem for me, and now I use the app on my phone as well. It costs money, but to me it was worth it
This so messed up… Plex is out on facebook asking “what new features” can we put in… I asked for a fix on this one…it would be a new feature and I doubt it’s rocket science to fix when they can basically copy/paste from other platforms… just need to get the thumb out of their
Is posting in this forum really the only avenue we have for getting this bug reported and fixed? How do we get the attention of a developer?
No idea @Naenyn - it’s the only way I can find where it would be reasonable to find developers checking… but, suffice to say, they aren’t being that attentive or quick in providing a fix… and it’s annoying as **** since we are PlexPass holders and, at least I, have been for quite some time.
It would probably have better traction if you posted in the player forum instead of the server forum. But the problem has been reported there as well in 2 different threads without any solution.
In Plex Media Player 2.5 that was recently released there is a fix for Apple Remote in High Sierra.
Hooray, thank you, Plex devs!
Double post… because… bad internet is bad.
Yeah it’s great that it works. Just upgraded to High Sierra again and with PMP 2.6 all is good!
Hi, I’m new with Plex on Mac mini. I can’t make my Apple Remote to work with Plex Media Player.
I have copied apple-remote.json to my ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Player/inputmaps directory as I read it has to be done in the forum.
I see in Plex Media Player.log that the player correctly matches the keys that I enter by the remote, For example:
2018-03-27 20:52:42 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 160 - Input received: source: “AppleRemote” keycode: “5” : InputBase::InputkeyState(KeyDown)
2018-03-27 20:52:42 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 229 - Emit input action: (“enter”)
2018-03-27 20:52:42 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 160 - Input received: source: “AppleRemote” keycode: “5” : InputBase::InputkeyState(KeyUp)
2018-03-27 20:52:45 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 160 - Input received: source: “AppleRemote” keycode: “6” : InputBase::InputkeyState(KeyDown)
2018-03-27 20:52:45 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 229 - Emit input action: (“back”)
2018-03-27 20:52:45 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 160 - Input received: source: “AppleRemote” keycode: “6” : InputBase::InputkeyState(KeyUp)
2018-03-27 20:52:47 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 160 - Input received: source: “AppleRemote” keycode: “7” : InputBase::InputkeyState(KeyDown)
2018-03-27 20:52:47 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 229 - Emit input action: (“play_pause”)
2018-03-27 20:52:47 [ DEBUG ] InputComponent.cpp @ 160 - Input received: source: “AppleRemote” keycode: “7” : InputBase::InputkeyState(KeyUp)
But, unfortunately the effect on the player itself is still none. What am I missing?
Thanks!
Just updated to macOS high Sierra 10.13.4 and it seems Apple have reversed the change they made originally in High Sierra and broken PMP again! Pressing up or down on the Apple remote results in PMP jumping double steps instead of one. Running the old Plex Home Theater works again whilst until this update up/down had no longer worked…
Update: enabling the candelair driver seems to have got it working again
Lord have mercy! Today I decided to use my old remote on a lark after I found it in an old box. So I bought a new battery and put it in only to find that each time I press the damn up/down button it registered a two-step jump. I really hope that someone fixes this.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!!!
Looks like Apple fixed this change and now whatever Plex did to fix it originally is causing a double jump. Issue appears even if I use Bettertouch tool to remap things. Remotebuddy works but seems like a lot for such a small problem. Hoping Plex will fix it.
Thanks,
Seems like they won’t as it hasn’t been fixed a year later… still the same problem with double skips using Mac remote.
