Soooo - I tried to convert and upload a while giant film library. And it’s eaten my entire hard drive. After reading, I now understand that doing a huge batch like this is a bad idea for a number of reasons. So - got it. But - I REALLY need to reclaim my hard drive space and I can’t find where plex stashed the files from transcode. Can anyone help?
What do you mean by ‘convert’ Are you referring to Sync? If so, look in Plex’s Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache. You will find the default Transcode directory. Under it, you’ll have Sync+. This is the default location unless you moved it in Settings - Server - Transcoder.
Yes - Sorry. I was referring to Sync. I just looked under Library/Application Support but there is nothing for Plex Media Server. I have made zero changes to my Plex setings.
It won’t be under your Library, it will be under Plex’s home directory "~plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server" because PMS runs as a separate user name.
I’m kind of a neophyte so maybe I’m trying the wrong way to get at it, but when I search for “~plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server” in spotlight or using “Go To” in finder, it says it doesn’t exist.
You’ll find the support pages to be a huge resource for you as you get to know Plex. Here’s the entry point.
Here’s the specific page which points you to / helps you. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202915258-Where-is-the-Plex-Media-Server-data-directory-located-
This helped. Thanks!
