Hi there!
My PMS (Mac version) just bounces once (black dot at bottom) and it won’t start… reboot didn’t work either. Seems like the problem exists since the last update!?

mind sharing some more details?
which version of macOS are you on, which version of the PMS did you install?
check out the logs (or share them if you need help):
as the Plex server isn’t starting, you can manually pick the logs by going to the following path: ~/Library/Logs/Plex Media Server/
(folder is hidden by default; you can click ⇧+⌘+G in Finder to enter the path)
High Sierra 10.13.4 (maybe the MacOS update messed some things up)
PMS 1.12.2.4929 (29.March)
Time-Machine backup (form far before the error) didn’t work either
thanks to some of you i might have solved the problem… i outsourced my “Plex Media Server” folder (±100GB) to a second SSD drive (lack of free space on the system SSD) and it seems like the latest MacOS update (10.13.4) crushed my symbolic-link.
all systems running again - thanks for your help!!!
My PMS on my iMac seems to be unnecessarily transcoding. I tested it with remote Roku users. I only upload files that are absolutely compatible with what their Roku and TV settings and capabilities are. This has worked perfectly for several years. Now, the exact same files that played perfectly with no transcoding (direct play) are having the video and audio transcoded files that it played. This was not happening prior to High Sierra 10.13.4 update. My PMS verison 1.12.1.4885. What is my recourse?
Thanks

I using the latest High sierra 10.13.4 without transcoding issues except for ts files from DVR but that another story.
There always version 1.12.2.4929

PMS version 1.12.1.488 worked perfectly until I updated my High Sierra 4 days ago. You think an older version of PMS would work better with a newer version of High sierra?
Edit: Ok. I didn’t realize that there was a newer PMS version. When I click the “check for updates” button, it reads that I’m up to date. idk

Have you checked on your LAN, example Server/Status/now playing.
When streaming to a TV.
Quality/size of bit rate will be altered for remote unless using original quality on remote device and number or limit server upload quality

But, that (quality altering) has never happened. As I said, none of the settings were changed. and everything played smoothly and perfectly with no transcoding. There has never been a problem before this.

Updates sometimes have different default settings
I had the same issue. I deleted the plex media folder under library (Hold option key when finder and click on GO>Library). I deleted the app itself from Applications and reinstalled. And started up to my surprise. So glad PMS is working now.
New to this and am trying to set up Plex. I have an account, the player works, but the server refuses to work. The error message I am getting is" /contents/MacOS/Plex\ Media\ Server ; exit ; Error: unable to set up server : sqlite3_statement-backend : : loadOne : database disk image is malformed (N4soci10soci_errorE"
I have a Mac Book Pro, running macOS High Sierra version 10.13.2. This is a laptop from 2011.
Please help and thanks a bunch!!!
