So…I followed all the directions and have successfully loaded my Plex Server! Yay. Thank you!! The only problem now is that it reloaded my library. Can I go in and just delete the files one by one from the libraries? My tv can now find my Mac but it says the shows don’t exist.
Unfortunately, it caused some issues with other programs not loading but I will deal with that separately. Main problem is my external hard drive has ceased to function and I can’t seem to reload it or set my Time Machine to back up. Sigh…
Go to system preferences/ Security& Privacy/Privacy/ Left column/ Files and Folders/ Right panel enable your drive next to Plex. ( You will need to unlock)
Time Machine back up and running. Now I am trying to set up libraries. I tried with one file In each of two library’s, TV and Movies to see if it worked. It is scanning the libraries but tells there is nothing in them! Back to the drawing board. My security and privacy screen looks nothing like that, btw!
I have two files, one called Movies and one called TV. Inside TV I have folders called by the name of the show then episodes within those. So TV>A Confession>A ConfessionS01E01 1080 c264RB58.mp4. I managed to get one Show and all its episodes added but struggle with others. This computer is possessed! It kept adding the entire season of Vikings, a show I have never downloaded nor would want to! It took several attempts to get rid of it and every time I reopened Plex, it reappeared! Minor issue but kind of weird! I have some more to add to the TV file and will post later, after my attempt. I also have trouble finding and opening my library! This program used to be so easy to use!
I think I am up and running! I updated my libraries and they seem to now be finding the media in them. yay. I can now access them from my TV through the app on my tv. (I used to be able to just go on my main menu on the tv and find my Mac listed as a server. click on it and my media would be there sorted by tv and movies. That no longer happens but I can live with this! Thanks SO much for helping me wade through this! I am such a techno weenie…lol. I know just enough to frustrate myself…lol. You have made this so easy…well maybe not easy but at least do-able for this old lady!
