I did a fresh installation of Plex. It says wait for Plex to start for the first time then eventually tells me a problem was detected with a core component of PMS.
I’ve tried deleting all Plex related files and folders, rebooting and also several different versions but get the same end result every time.
If this is a fresh installation, and there’s nothing you care about losing configuration-wise, try this procedure:
This will completely remove Plex Media Server from your system. Note the step toward the end where it instructs you to restart the system.
After doing do, download the latest package from the download page and place it in /Applications. The first time you run it, do it directly from the folder by right-clicking it and selecting Open. Also, make sure macOS’ Gatekeeper isn’t blocking Plex Media Server when you run it the first time (macOS System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General).
From your logs it appears that PMS is having trouble starting its plug-ins (agents and such). This could be permissions-related, or the result of a corrupt installation. Or it could be something else entirely. The steps above should give you a clean slate though.
I followed the uninstall instructions earlier, including the reboot, to no avail.
I have just followed them again, including the reboot and including right clicking Plex and choosing “open” the first time but it hasn’t changed anything.
There is no issue with gatekeeper, it hasn’t blocked Plex.
I’ve also tried adding Plex to ‘full disk access’ but it didn’t help.
Plex is definitely having trouble with it’s plugins but I can’t figure out why. It doesn’t appear to be permissions related and it isn’t a corrupt installation, so I’m stumped.
