iOS device as remote control to Plex server in MacBook Pro, wired directly to DAC

Hi!

I am a plex noob, I have my server set up on a removable drive hooked up to a MacBook Pro M4, that is in turn connected via USB to a Schiit Bifrost 2/64 for audio playback into my 2-channel setup. Is it possible to use an iOS device, iPhone or iPad, as a remote to control the playback directly from the server? I can see my Apple TV, and WiiM Pro that’s located in another room, but I can’t see the server from either my iPhone or iPad. Is this even possible, or am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Do you have Plexamp installed and running on the MacBook?
You should be able to stream to that or control what’s playing on Plexamp on your MacBook from the Plexamp app on your iOS/ipadOS devices.

That did it, it’s not the most intuitive or elegant solution, but it works! Thanks for the tip! It’s going to be an adjustment after using iTunes and Apple Music almost exclusively for the past 25 years, but I’m keeping an open mind. What I think I’m missing most so far are the algorithmic and music discovery suggestions, but I’m looking forward to not giving Apple money every month.
