macOS server soft crash

Hi everyone. Everything was working fine after the DNS flush until tonight when the PMS did its usual quit and then eventually brought the Mac to point where a restart was required. I was able to quit the PMS app, and normally before I could just open it up again, this time I got a “You can’t open the application Plex Media Server because it is not responding” error in the Finder. I had to restart the Mac to bring the PMS back to life. I grabbed the logs and they are attached to this in case this is something new after the DNS flush.

So after around 5 days of working fine I had two crashes within a few hours of each other. It crashed last night when I was watching something, AppleTV client, error on screen was server is not responding. The PMS restarted fine that time and no hard crash. Woke up this morning to another crash, PMS icon in Finder menu bar but not running as per the usual crashes. Again I was able to quit the app and start it again just fine. Logs from both crashes are attached here.

HI, just wondering if there is anything in my logs that is pointing to the issue? I had 4 days of no crashing at all until yesterday when it stopped while playback was happening for someone. There was no error on screen, playback stopped on the user and the library disappeared. I have the log attached from that in case there is something new in there.

Thanks!

unfortunately not. Been trying to figure out a way to reproduce but not sure what area might be causing it.

Hi, I have updated to the latest build that came out last week (1.40.3.8555-fef15d30c) and so far the issue I am facing has gotten worse. I have had the soft crash two times today, all at various stages of watching and not watching, Logs from both crashes uploaded.

I might revert back to the last build as that was stable to the point where the soft crashes were only happening every few of days.

Hi,

Just to give you an update. I had a drive crash at the weekend so I lost the plex database on my boot drive. Through this is a good time to start afresh and I did. Installed the lasted version of PMS and rebuilt all my shares and libraries and last night what’s been happening happened and this time after restarting the PMS app people outside of the network got a limited connectivity error. I have attached the logs from directly after the crash.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Well after the rebuild things were a little bit more stable, the crashes are happening but this time very different. Now when the PMS crashes the server content is still showing as online and when you try to watch something the pinwheel starts and eventually the Plex app (using the macOS app) gives a playback error code of 4294967279. On the server end I do the same thing, close the PMS app and then reopen it and everything is fine once again. I have the latest logs attached.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi All,

Well the issues are still happening. I have upgraded to the latest version of PMS and even running the latest beta and the issue is still happening, more frequently then ever before I must admit. Attached is the latest logs in case there is something new in there.

Thanks!

Another day, more crashes, running the latest version as well and still the same thing happening. Log fine attached from this crash and I checked console as well and this has shown up under the Plex crash log:

Don’t know if this helps but from searching the sentry.io string I find a few people having similar issues especially on Reddit.

PMS crashed three times in a row yesterday, managed to find this in the console log so I don’t know if it helps:
