The new Roku experience is out, and it is a drastic change from the old app. I have several family members in their 70s and 80s that watch content on my server, and they are finally used to accessing content on the old app. Can the old app interface be added as an option? People this age don’t handle change very well, and this new app will make things difficult for them to figure out how to access movies and shows.
I agree revolutionary changes like this, going from vertical to horizontal navigation are going to give me tech support calls and complaints.
Everyone should just give their users the Plex team’s email/support info - let them deal with the issues! Especially since Plex considers them their users and not yours!
I wholeheartedly agree. While the new navigation might eventually be loved by many, my kids started complaining that they couldn’t find their shows. In the 30 minutes they had to watch a show, they couldn’t navigate and find what they wanted. My kids get very little tv time and this was a real bummer to them.
At the least, we need a way to update the home screen - when the kids go to “home” they get a message that there is no content in that library. A major change like this should give us a way to make appropriate updates to ease the transition. If this DOES exist, there’s no reference to it in the intro to the new UI.
Ok - so I will put a little update here - I fixed the blank “home” screen…
I set the libraries as favorites for the kids’ profile and suddenly I’m back to a familiar screen. At least I have the media that they’re accustomed to seeing and selecting available on the home screen.
I’m still not fond of the update but this just made the update usable for me.
This update is trash.
The new update is awful. ROLL IT BACK!
My home has gone blank multiple times after this update requiring me to leave the app and come back so it may just be that.
I hate this update too, makes it much harder for my son to find his shows and music.
