Hey there, I have a question.
I want to make my own subtitles (.srt). I could make the file and write every line and the right time, but that’s alot of work. I could also just import them from opensubtitles (in plex when watching), but those aren’t always sychronised or have ads in them.
Is there some software that I dont know of that can take an audio file (or I’d prefer just the video file with audio in it (.mkv .mp4 etc) and the script for that episode. And then match the script for that episode to the audio. e.g.:
Script:
[Claire]
Kids, breakfast!
Kids? [Sighs]
Phil, would you get them?
[Video Game Sounds]
Yeah. Just a sec.
Kids!
That is-
Okay.
Kids? Get down here!
Why are you guys yelling at us
when we’re way upstairs?
File:
Modern Family - S01E01 - Pilot.mkv
Use a software or script or whatever.
Output:
1
00:00:02,920 --> 00:00:04,629
[Claire]
Kids, breakfast!
2
00:00:04,755 --> 00:00:08,049
Kids? [Sighs]
Phil, would you get them?
[Video Game Sounds]
3
00:00:08,133 --> 00:00:10,510
Yeah. Just a sec.
4
00:00:10,594 --> 00:00:12,887
Kids!
5
00:00:13,931 --> 00:00:15,431
That is-
Okay.
6
00:00:16,600 --> 00:00:18,893
Kids? Get down here!
7
00:00:18,977 --> 00:00:22,063
Why are you guys yelling at us
when we’re way upstairs?
So basically, it would grab a line, use some voice recognision engine to search for the line in the audio and then note the timestamps of the beginning and the end. Then output that into a file together with the line.
Is there a script/software or whatever that does this or is there a different way to do this that doesn’t require to manually follow the episode and note down the time of every line?
Thank you very much!
And bonus points if it’s available for linux and you can use it in an script (aka check if there’s an subtitle. If not then search for the script and file and automatically make the subtitles)!
