In the past, when logged in as a managed account, I’ve been able to click the three dots on a show and click Settings to choose preferred Audio and Subtitle languages for a specific show. This is completely separate from the global language settings. But now, for certain shows, these settings aren’t showing up anymore when trying to access from the Library view:
Again, this is all from the browser web interface, logged in as a managed account. I can still change preferred audio/subtitle languages with my admin account for a show, but of course that doesn’t impact the managed account.
Hello, thanks for reporting. We are aware of this issue and is a bug that will need fixed. IIRC this issue stems from the series being tagged in a Collection. Could you confirm that this series is in a Collection?
Yes, you are correct! I is indeed the case for shows that are within a collection. The moment I removed it from the collection, I was able to update the settings after opening the show. I guess that’s a temporary workaround for now. Does the bug also have documented that even for the shows not in a collection, we are not currently able to access the settings from the three dots in the library page? This used to be possible as well. The settings option only appears when opening the show - but if I use the Back button to go navigate to the previous browser page at the Library, I sometimes will then see the Settings option for the show.
Did you try this with a brand-new never-bef-reseen show/episode? Once you watch or start watching something, Plex remembers the audio/subtitle track used, and uses that instead of account default.
Set the managed account’s preferred track, then try something new.
Okay, it’s entirely possible that I was just experiencing a bug at some point where Settings were available from the three-dots menu on a show from the Library page. But good to at least know the Settings bug is known and will be addressed at some point. Just wondering, are there any plans at some point to allow these language settings for entire shows to be changed elsewhere, in addition to the web interface? I ask, just for example, for the use case of this current managed account that I’m using is dedicated for a living room TV. It’s only ever used there, but every time I add Anime shows where I want to choose specific Audio/Subtitle preferences that I want applied to that specific show, I need to use the web interface with that account to update those preferences. Would be nice if I could just choose that setting for a whole show from the TV, but I can only do it on an episode basis.
