I have my mind on content - usually, I just add stuff to my NAS just to have it in case - I keep buying disks before deleting anything - unwanted or already watched media stays right there.
So it happens, that I have some favourite Series and Movies and when a new episode, season or movie is announced i got goosebumps. The bad thing is, Plex is awesome as it it and supports me in any way of any content i already have. But when i missed a new release, Plex won’t mind.
The ‘feature’ I had in mind, Is a ‘manager’ - account or rather view. Where you see a log of recently changed / added media for example on thetvdb.com (where Plex gathers some data) - and for example: You had completed your favourite Series just now and talk to yourself ‘oh, that is a huge cliffhanger. Hopefully it won’t end here.’ - but it ended. And after months, or a year, any producer makes a sequel. But you won’t be notified by them or anybody else. But Plex could do this for you very well.
Just whenever a entry is made on (for example) thetvdb.com which results in new episodes or seasons, it could pick the new season and log it into a ‘upcoming’ or ‘coming soon’-…log. So you know, ‘holy, I have to look out’.
And/Or you view any Series and see inactive episodes or seasons, so you know that there is something out.
Or the other way around. You buy any Series, think you got it all and with the manager-view, you see, that you missed the last season - just because the store didn’t have the item in stock.
And very nice to have:
A sign,which indicates, that the selected series is complete (Season 0 excluded) and every match has been made from thetvdb.com - or whatever. That way you know, you are up to date. You can maybe search/filter completed/uncompleted Series.
Certainly, it makes no sense to bother all accounts with that information, but for all completer out there it would be nice to have such feature built in.
So I would safe the time after every show i added, to look up, is something missing… looking… verify… and write it up… wait until enough items are listed to be worth the effort and make another order.
Well, this sort of thing would be nice to have on movies too, but this is rather complicated…
