I am also working on setting up a way to share some content with a family member and want to create a stand alone library for them to only access the programs (both TV and Movies) they should, is there a way to link files so that I do not have to have two copies of each file on my Synology NAS. Is there a way to combine the TV and Movies into one so that the family member does not have to know if they are in Movies or TV Shows?
Since you have a Plex Pass you can use labels on items and limit access to your existing libraries to those items in them.
meaning you can give certain movies the label KIDS then restrict kids access to just things with that label.

Depdning on how you have your files organized.
You can have a folder called Kids Movies and another called Adult movies where the thigns that they can watch are in KIDS and the rest are in adult.
Then when you create the kids library you only add the Kids folder of movie files. When you create the Adult library you add both folders,.
There is not.
Movies and TV shows can’t be combined into a single library. There are separate matching agents for each type.
Hmm, symbolic links should work I think. Easy enough to test out. Ok, that worked.
I have a Testing library and I have a secondary managed user that is me as well. My managed me only has access to Movies & TV Shows. In my TV Shows library, I did
ln -s ../Testing/Scrubs\ (2001)/ “Scrubs (2001)”
Now Scrubs shows up in my TV Shows library. And it shows up for my managed self. I see it, I click on it and see the seasons, click on one of those and I see the episodes and can play tem.
