MANUAL (not PMS_Updater) update of PLEX Media Server

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2902-69560ce1e
Player Version#:

Looking for instructions for MANUALLY updating Plex Media Server on FREENAS. The developers of PMS_Updater don’t seem to get the meaning of manual, and so have flooded this help area (and others) with their AUTOMATED solution, making it very difficult to find a solution that does not involve that tool. That is not what I need.

I need to be able to identify, retrieve and install the latest version, under my own control. There are a few customized steps I like to take and PMS_Updater is not a fit. I recognize that it’s a fairly simple process, and I’ve found the process before but I’ve lost my notes and didn’t bookmark the site where I got my help.

So I would appreciate your help in this regard. Thank you.

You mean as in manually clicking the “Update” button on the FreeNas “Plugin” page for Plex?
(I suppose that’s not what you’re looking for… just trying to get a clear shot on what exactly you want to do)

I second the request from delovelady: the automated update process (i.e. pressing the update button) fails with this message:
Error: A plugin manifest matching Plex-plexpass could not be found!
In Ubuntu there is a command-line method to update the PLM and it works fine. Can we please have this for FreeNas as well? Shouldn’t be too difficult. It’s a flavour of Unix after all.

:joy:
