Maybe I’m not searching well enough but I couldn’t find request for the first thing that came to my mind when I started to use Plex DVR Guide: is there any option for manually set a recording using time and channel? I mostly interested in recording sports and sometimes it’s hard to find specific game in non-grid Guide type.
Currently you can not select a Channel and a Time, but what you can do is, for example, scroll down to the Upcoming Sports section and if you are looking for say NFL Football click on the words NFL Football.
This will bring up all of the NFL games that the scheduler can see, from here just select the game(s) you want to record.
Thank you for response Paul. Unfortunately Guide doesn’t work really well for me. For example it shows 4 upcoming MLS soccer events but only one is available for recording and only in SD
I agree that the guide still seems a bit buggy.
I haven’t installed the update yet (plan on doing that on Sunday), but I have a friend that has. I had him do a search for a college football game this weekend and no matter what he searched for, it couldn’t find it.
Is the search looking in the descriptions of the shows too, or just the name?
Manual (Time / Channel) recording would be a great plus for the DVR app.
Right now, to record my local news and Good Morning America, both OTA on the same channel, I have to record each for 2 hours - so 4 hours total. My local news repeats every 1/2 hour and Good Morning America basically does the same thing. If I could just record my local channel 8 from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM I would have both the local news and Good Morning America on one 1 hour recording. This would allow me to see both shows either at my home or remotely at 7:30 AM - Right now I have to wait and waddle through 4 hours of recordings to see the 60 minutes that I watch.

Another scenario where this would be useful… Often an ESPN broadcast such as Monday Night Football will be shown on a local OTA channel of the away team or the home team when the game is a sellout. In my experience, the guide data never reflects this “special case.” Perhaps this is more of an issue with the guide data, but it is real nonetheless. Being able to set channel and start/stop times manually would be extremely useful in working around this situation.
