Manually editing out content

I’m just about ready to pull the trigger on a Plex pass, but just want to check on one thing. Is there a way for me to MANUALLY edit my show recordings, if I want to clean them up, get rid of ads the auto-remover missed, remove objectionable content, trim them, etc.? I’m using a Mac, and don’t mind going outside the Plex software to fix up the files.

And I mean, shows I want to edit after they’ve been recorded by Plex.

Frame Accurate editing of H.264 video streams is impossible - due to (very) technical reasons.
Frame Accurate editing of MPEG-2 streams is easily done:
VideoReDo comes to mind - best 90 bucks I ever spent.

Having said that Plex don’t edit squat - or provide any means to do so.
You’re on your own.

I use http://shotcut.org It is free and works really well for me removing commercials from MPEG4 and MPEG2 content. Then it encodes everything to H.264/mp4 for smaller library files and convenient Plex playback.

I have also found that the Plex commercial remover works pretty well too. Now I only use shotcut for programs I want to keep in my library longer term.

Thanks to both of you…that’s exactly what I needed to know.
