Remove commercials from all files in the DVR folder

I have begun using the channels app to record shows, but plex to watch them. Channels does’t remove commercials, it marks them, then skips them. Plex doesn’t seem to honor those marks so, why not simply scan all of the tv shows in the folder every couple of hours, and remove commercials. It seems plex does this in post processing anyway, so just telling it to scan the whole folder instead of the shows recorded by plex should be doable.

Just a thought.

I use MCEBuddy to remove commercials and convert the .ts files to .mp4 for the smaller size.

Yeah, I don’t really want to mess with the files manually. Also, I don’t really care that much about the file size.

So doing some basic research I found out that Plex uses a 3rd party software console called comskip, but that there isn’t an easy way to get it to run manually. It appears that the comskip trigger is the completion of a recording… My suggestion to plex is to have that changed to the addition of a file to DVR folder. I realize I can go buy MCEBuddy, which has its own comskip functionality, but I am already paying for plex, which has comskip built in.
