I’ve seen this discussed a little bit in the forums, but didn’t find any definitive answer. Is there any way currently to skip commercials in a video? Or, better yet, any plans to implement commercial skip as a native function in Plex (and all it’s clients of course.)
‘No’ and ‘unknown’.
You should cut commercials before adding the files into plex.
I’ve never seen a single commercial ever in Plex
Ok, thanks OttoKerner. Any suggestions on which tool to use for cutting commercials? I was thinking of trying MCEBuddy, but heard it has a tendency to cut part of the show before and after commercials (and might not cut the commercials at all). I’d mainly use it to cut commercials in videos recorded in PlayOn/PlayLater, but sometimes from TiVo’d shows as well.
I know there are some automated tools out there, but I never used them.
I use VideoReDo for my TV recordings.
(Even though it has some ‘Ad-detective’ too, I’ve found it is faster and more accurate to cut ads manually)
Thanks OttoKerner, I’m definitely thinking manual is the way to go.
Early 2021 clean-up: implemented (part of Plex DVR)
