Manually managed home hubs not persistent across app launches

This is becoming very frustrating. When I let Plex automatically manage my home hubs, it’s a convoluted mess. I’d rather manage the hubs I want manually. However, across a variety of playback devices and sessions, the hubs hardly ever remain enabled.

For example, on my phone (iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 14.3), I’m missing the ‘All Recently Added Movies’ tab. So I go to one of my movies libraries, add the hub, make the selection to include all Movie libraries and it shows as added. However, when I close the app and reopen, the hub is gone again.

My iPad 11 Pro (2020, iPadOS 14.3) is ALWAYS missing ALL hubs when I start the app.

It’s really frustrating because this has been the case for months now.

Prelim: I don’t use PlexAmp/PlexPass at the moment.

That said, has this ever worked for you? Reason: I have seen really weird behavior on IOS with both Tidal and PlexApp — sometimes whole albums would disappear as an FYI. To fix I would delete the app and reinstall.

Is your Plex Server IP address locked down with a static IP so it won’t change? If not, I would try that. Network stacks can be weird.

Good luck.

Yeah, it worked previously. In fact, it worked best before they implemented this whole system of Home Hubs a while back. But yeah, and that’s a good question I didn’t actually address in my OP.

I do have a static IP for my server as well. All other functionality of the server works fine (as far as I can tell) but the Home Hubs just seem to be problematic, especially so on iOS and iPadOS devices.

Bummer. It appears you have done all you can to stabilize this. I hope someone else will identify this as a bug and path forward or give you a solution.

I am glad Plex is trying to remain an industry leader because I would like them to stay around. Plex is solving a complex problem but sometimes documentation lags and functionality is often misunderstood by the Plex community and sometimes Plex. They are doing a good job but have some warts that need to be corrected.

Good luck. Let us know if you get this solved.

Me personally, I have numerous Video content suppliers including Sling and Amazon. On top of that, there are numerous other services like Google, Apple TV, PlexPass, Quello and others. All providers are in a mad dash to be “king of the hill.” Even Tidal is involved but Tidal isn’t meeting funding expectations. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top if they don’t destroy each other. DMCA partially solved copyright theft at the expense of end users.

Life is never boring in the fast lane.
