Manually progressing through paused photo gallery - unwelcome change

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7571 and 1.32.7.7616
Player Version#: 10.2.0.4488

Past behavior:

  1. Open a Photo library.
  2. Open an individual photo (don’t click ‘Play’ or ‘Shuffle’).
  3. This incorrectly starts autoplaying the library (a regression reported 4 years ago)
  4. Pause the slideshow.
  5. Using the remote’s navigation ring to move forward/backward through photos, the slideshow remained paused.

New behavior:
At step 5 above, moving to the next/previous photo starts the slideshow again, so I have to hit Pause every time I switch photos.

This is not intuitive. Can we get it back to the expected behavior below?

Expected (intuitive) behavior:

  1. When a user opens a photo directly (without clicking a Play or Shuffle control), the expectation is that photo, and ONLY that photo, will be displayed. Play/shuffle is not initiated.
  2. When manually moving through images using forward/backward control, the new image should be displayed, but slideshow should remain paused.
  3. Slideshow should be started only when Play or Shuffle control is used.

Yikes, that’s irritating!

Unfortunately this is just one of several pretty major problems with photo libraries on Android-TV right now:

[bug] Photo playlists kills audio in Music playlist - This one is particularly dysfunctional.

I am also irritated by this behavior. The photo library in Kodi Android TV is way better then the Plex photo library unfortunately.
