Manually Renumber TV Episodes

It’s extremely annoying and cumbersome to have to search through every metadata provider to find one that matches the episode numbering scheme you’d prefer, if one supported by Plex even has said numbering scheme. Plus, there’s the pesky instances where the version of the local media that you own combines or separates episodes and you must either manually combine/separate them or deal with the server making it seem as though episodes are missing. Allowing users to manually number episodes/arrange TV episodes would be a much appreciated quality of life addition to Plex.

Let me be clear in what I’m suggesting. The file naming scheme should remain the same with files named in accordance to what the primary metadata agent dictates the episode order being. That way Plex can still pull images and episode names/description data. However, after a user has added episodes and Plex has pulled the metadata for said episodes users should be able to go to each individual episode and change the episode number manually.

Essentially, just allow users to go into a TV series, click on a specific episode, click the “edit” field for said episode, and then enter the desired episode number in a newly added “Episode Number” field.

(My apologies to the forum staff for originally posting this under -General Plex Features. That’s my bad)

Not that any ideas I’ve voted for have ever actually been implemented, but I would love this. I have a couple of series where neither the airing order nor DVD order match the way I’d like them ordered, and it’s a big pain point.

Yeah, it doesn’t look like this one’s catching much interest, but thanks for sharing the sentiment.

I’m at wits end with a few series and TheTVDB’s annoying policy of strictly following airing date. I’d just like to be able to manually re-arrange the episodes in my library to actually be in canonical order. Sadly, the DVD order is also out of whack so the only options are to manually edit every incorrect match or go with the Personal Media and input all the information; neither scenario is ideal.
