Re-order episodes

there are some shows that are on TVDB or TMDB that are ONLY listed in air date order, and not production order, meaning we aren’t able to organize the episodes in the intended order. Usually TVDB has “air date” order, “dvd order”, and “absolute” order. but if these are incorrect there is no way to change them, especially if the season is locked.

I suggest having one of the tag fields on each episode to be the season and episode number, much like our being able to change the air date manually.

I’m not quite sure I understand what you’re aiming for…
Do you want the episodes to still match based on their file names but then manually re-arrange their order?
e.g. your file is named Show Name - s01e01; it’ll download the metadata for s01e01; then you tell Plex to place this in the 2nd episode position instead??

This seems to be what’s already discussed in an existing feature suggestion.

If that’s what you’re suggesting too, please comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting votes (and letting us close this one).

There’s another somewhat related suggestion, discussing an option to manually match episodes.

so lets take Justice League S01E08 - Injustice for All (Part 1)

injustice for all is episode 8 according to production order and how its ordered on HBOMax. but it was aired as s01E11. both TVDB and TMDB have the episodes ordered by date, so even if i change to DVD order on either its still not correct.

usually when this happens i would sign into TVDB, comment on a thread or edit them myself, but the show is locked. so i would like to do it myself - manually change the episode with the correct information to its correct place, production wise. does that make sense? the only other way i can think of is to add the show entirely by hand without syncing any other meta data like airdate or episode description.

Thanks for clarifying. So your suggestion is indeed the same as the one in the 1st link from my previous post?

i so it is - i guess i’ll go vote for that then
