Hello so I need to update my Plex Server on my QNAP. I had to manually install my current version (1.32.0). How do I install v.1.41.6 without losing my settings? Do I just run the manual install and it will be installed replacing the old version while keeping my settings? Or do I need to uninstall 1.32.0 first and my settings will be recalled from online storage?
All your server settings are located on the server itself – there’s no online storage involved.
If you upgrade, after skipping multiple releases, your server will however be busy for some time to process the various database model updates. Depending on how powerful your QNAP’s CPU and how big your library is, this might take from a few seconds to several minutes (or even hours).
That being said, manually updating the app should be fine. Just consider it’ll take a moment to finish the post-upgrade maintenance.
Ok thank you. Do I just run the installer and the currently installed version will be replaced with the latest version? Do I stop Plex before running the installer?
If you use the option to manually install the PMS package from the QNAP’s app center, QNAP will take care to stop the bundle before installing the new executables.
