PMS Server stuck on old version

Server Version#: 1.30.0
Player Version#:

I’ve got PMS installed on a QNAP NAS but it’s stuck on version v1.30.0, from way back in 2023/02/08. I can see people on here talking about much newer versions on their QNAPs, so how come I’m stuck? I installed it straight from the QNAP AppCentre and the Changelog seems to show 1.30.0 is the latest.

NAS is a TS-453D, fully patched and updated to latest.

Have you looked at the QNAP FAQ? https://forums.plex.tv/t/qnap-faq-read-me-first/109942

Did you:

  1. Go to https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads
  2. Select QNAP on the left
  3. Download the correct QPKG from the choices on the right side
  4. Open App Center on the QNAP
  5. Click “Manual Install”
  6. Browse to the QPKG file you just downloaded
  7. Install it.

Thanks, I hadn’t seen that link. I’ll digest that :+1:

Thanks for that list @ChuckPa .

Can you tell me, if I do manual installs from the Plex site, does it just seamlessly update my QNAP App Centre v1.30.0 installed version (and so get all the existing config/settings)?

And if QNAP do eventually release a new version on their App Centre that is an even newer version, will that then be able to upgrade a Plex sourced and manually installed version - or will it mean I’ve gone on a “different branch” and need to stay on that?

And if all that is OK, then is it fine for me to go straight from v1.30.0 to the latest stable from the plex site in “one hop”?

Manual Install IS the official way to upgrade your PMS installation on QNAP

What happens is that , during installation, App Center sees the existing installation and changes to “Upgrade” mode.

If you were ever to uninstall, you would completely erase your server (which is how QTS apps work

When you take such a big upgrade step ----

  1. Install it
  2. Watch the QNAP dashboard
  3. You want PMS to go back to being Completely Idle
(There will be a lot of internal database upgrades for it to do)

@ChuckPa

Thanks very much. Did the upgrade today and it went very smoothly. In fact, it was over in about 20 seconds so not long at all. Thanks for your help
