I’m getting many very obvious and odd mismatches in artist names. For example, I have a properly tagged artist named Martin Jacobsen that’s identified by Plex as Karen Jacobsen!?
Yet, when I go to his album, it’s scrapped the correct album cover and has the artist correctly identified as Martin Jacobsen!?
What’s going on? What can cause it to get it wrong like that?
Have you configured your library to prefer embedded metadata or did Plex match that based on your file names / folder structure?
I could imagine your files have an embedded (track) artist “Martin Jacobsen” but maybe only “Jacobsen” in their folder name or the (album) artist?
Edit: the album itself seems to be properly tagged on MusicBrainz.org – so I don’t think they’re the source of your mismatch.

Don’t quite understand…I can tell you that my music collection is set in this way:
Scanner & Agent are both ‘Plex Music’…does that answer your question?
So no explanation to my problem then?
The album is named 'Martin Jacobsen - Live in Tokyo (2013). That’s how my entire collection is named (Artist - Album (Year))
EDIT: I’ve tried the ‘Fix Match’ to no avail! I’ve selected Martin Jacobsen but it still remains the same
Could this be due to the new ‘Improved’ Plex scanner?? I’ve just upgraded my library and I’m noticing more and more problems!!
On the same page/dialog… have you checked the option Prefer local metadata?
Do your files contain any embedded metadata that could be in conflict with what the album is supposed to be?
Ok, got it. So yes, I do have Prefer local metadata enabled… I had done that because I wasn’t too happy with the results from the Plex scanner.
I tend to keep a pretty clean tagging of all my files and a lot of my music can be quite obscure and unknown so…
And regarding this one artist and album, yes all my tagging is correct.
However, you’d think that would help but oddly enough, it doesn’t.
Because as we’re discussing this one problem, I’m discovering others.
For example, a japanese artist called Akira Jimbo for whom I have 14 albums and Plex only finds…1!?
