Mapped drive on local network and no detection

Server Version#: 4-147.1

I have dedicated a server for my FILES but plex server is not installed on it. It’s installed remotely into a desktop that is way more faster. I have mapped some drives from this computer to the server.

I have noticed that the OPTION Scan my library automatically DOESN’T WORK. More likely, Run a partial scan when changes are detected DOESNT’T WORK either.

Note:

  • If I force it manually, it works but it will SCAN all my files instead of only scanning the one that have changed and or added.

  • This wasn’t happening when my hard drives where local.

Does anyone would have a worlk around for this issue?

Thanx. Regards

It is a limitation of the SMB file sharing protocol. There is no way for the server to notify the desktop that new files exist.

You can either scan the libraries manually or have Plex scan them periodically (settings → libraries).

Would it possible to have a SORT of an AGENT on the Windows server side? Just like a NAS.

Thanx.

Regards.
