I have two Happauge tuners on my system: 955Q and Win Dual. Total of 3 addressable tuners. Channel scan for 955Q comes up with about 20 less channels than than the Dual. In addition, some channels on 955Q don’t appear on the Dual. Plus in general, I had to painstakingly try to figure out what scanned channels coincide with the cable offering (Optimum in CT, USA). If there some information you have that can improve on this process? How do I map the actual cable channels to the guide you download?
So to simplify - why would two different by related devices attached to the same cable system and using the same DVR settings, when I run the channel scan, come up with two different lists of available channels AND in some cases a channel on one device is not found on the other device. These are all Clear Channels I am looking to map.
And now a final thought - it would be nice to have a feature in the DVR that lets you play a channel live while mapping the channels so you can see what it is. For example channel 21.9929 is an available channel. It does not get mapped automatically. What is it? If I could watch it, I would be able to then select the channel from the pull down and be happy.
my Sony & Vizio Tv’s do something similar. Handy.
Update. I went and deleted the DVR and started all over again. After scan, the devices again show differences in the total number of scanned channels. Most are protected (i.e. encrypted) as expected. What was not expected is that now a channel that should be available (which I used to have as 2.3 on the 955Q) is now not listed as all in either device. Yet, it is available through winTV8 s/w on both devices. Can someone (hopefully a Plex tech) explain in detail or provide a doc that explains how the Plex scan works and how it arrives at the “channel numbers” that are used to map to my local guide.
There is a bug that hasn’t been fixed yet that causes some channels to not show up from the scan… I’m not sure if that’s your issue though.
