DVR Cable Channels mappings don't line up...

I’m Currently running 1.5.1.3520-ed60c70d6 which enabled me to use my older HDHR3-US (2 of them)…
so, one I configured as Antenna/OTA… works fantastic… very happy…

The other I configured for Cable (I have very very basic boxless cable at the moment)… I observed that the list of available channels and their mappings didn’t seem to quite match what the HDHomeRun Setup channel scans found…

Most of the mappings were fine and correctly mapped… However there were several missing, and some didn’t line up…

For example,
One of the biggest TV stations in my area is WAVE 3… specifically channel 3.1… when I use the scan feature under the HDHomeRun TV app (and hdhomerun_config scan), it says that 3.1 is on CH72-85 …

However, In Plex (assuming that “CH” is equivalent to the word “Service” in PLEX, which it did for several other channels) It doesn’t even show a 72-85 (or any 72’s period) as available…* rather Plex had 3.1 mapped to 74-85… However, the HDHomerun app said that 74-85 was 21.4 (“WBNA Re”) (I assume it pulled that “guide Name” from the channel itself)

to be truthful, I haven’t had a %100 chance to test and verify every detail … of which I’m still working on… and the whole QAM channel mapping/frequency/service crap gives me a headache…

I was just curious if anyone has made similar observations… is there any DVR specific debugging?.. i.e. more detail behind the channel scanning from plex’s side?

I have something similar in that there are more channels when I scan for new channels and enable them but they do not show up in the channel list when I go back to Plex to find shows to record.

I can log into the HDHomeRun box on my network by putting the IP address in my browser and through the diagnostics I see that the HDHomeRun can see all the channels so I know that that are at least there.

Specifically in Miami wplg 10.1 and fox 7.1 show up when I scan and i can enable them but do not show up in the guide so i cant watch/record those channels.

I cant help you specifically with your issues but hopefully there are some more options for the DVR soon that correct some of these scan/guide/channel issues, or at least an explanation of what is going on so that we can make changes to our setups if needed.

You guys may want to try to download the latest HDHomeRun Setup app, delete the old one, install the new one which will update firmware on your hardware device. From there scan channels within the HDHomerun Setup app by clicking on the Device Input ID which will open the device settings in a webpage, then click Channel Lineup. Once scan is done look over the list and make sure there are no stars of red X’s next to any channels.

Once done then go into the HDHomeRun Setup app itself, this time click CableCard, then click SCAN next to the Device Input and verify when done that all of your channels are there. From there I would suggest deleting your DVR from within the Plex Server, re-add it, check when adding the HDHomeRun device to Plex DVR that all channels are now there that you want and if so rescan the EPG.

I had similar issues over weekend and part of last week not getting the HD channels. Doing all this cleared up my issue and I now have all my channels back and the guide pulling HD channels offerings for the DVR again.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I have a HDHR3-US, no web page management nor CableCard option…

it’s just odd that the HDHomeRun Setup (running the latest firmware as well 20161119, for this device) gives me all of my available channels… but plex does not… doesn’t even show them as “encrypted”… nothing, its like they don’t exist…

FYI, I’ve also pre-scanned via the HD HomeRun app and verified the channels before running the Plex DVR channel scan… still no luck…
