how so?
I have a few shows where it doesn’t mark them at all, and others where it marks some commercial breaks and not not others. Sometimes it will even mark half the break. It’s not consistent. Some shows it doesn’t recognize the commercials at all. I have even had different shows on the same broadcast channel have different results. There’s no rhyme or reason that I can see.
Commercial detection is as much an art as science; maybe more art. I’ve not seen any decrease in accuracy lately personally.
How are the shows being added to your library? Are they being directly recorded by the Plex DVR, are you recording them separately and adding them to the library? If they’re being added manually, you’ll need to run an “Analyze” on the media/season/show in order to trigger detection.
Regarding accuracy, there are many things which can affect Comskip’s ability to detect commercials. I’ve personally found that news/weather crawls almost completely break it.
I’m using Plex to record the shows directly. It used to work better than it does now.
This may be a situation where you would benefit from customizing commercial detection:
Plex relies entirely on the accuracy of Comskip’s detection, so tweaking those settings may help. But again, more art than science. And Plex has not changed their default settings. So something may have changed in your local broadcasts.
