Mark episode as played / unplayed and other random episodes status changes

Hi, I’m trying to mark episodes of a show as played. However, what happens on the phone app and server web page is that if I mark say episode 8 as unplayed, random episodes change from played to unplayed and vice versa. I’ve tried using the plex app on my phone, the TV and the server and it happens on all.
