Played episodes not displayed correctly across Plex endpoints

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2621

Various players:
Apple TV - latest version
Android TV (Sony) - latest version
local browser playback.

Plex does not appear to be correctly marking episodes as played for the same user across the multiple endpoints listed above. If I watch an episode on apple TV, for instance, and then move to watching from a browser window on a laptop then the last episode to be marked as played (including part-completed episodes) is the last episode watched on that particular device, rather than on any device by the same user.

I am assuming that this is incorrect behaviour as it’s certainly unexpected. Can anyone help to point me in the right direction as to what the problem might be?
