For some reason I’m starting to struggle using the Match / Fix Match. Match routinely mismatches some shows and Fix Match does not provide a matching title until I unmatch the show then manually match it.
Here’s an example:

Incorrectly matches as Clarence (2014) instead of Clarence
I know I can add a year to improve the match or I can add the show ID to force Plex to match it but when the show name is a 100% match for its TheTVDB entry I would expect it to match or at least make it the first option for a Fix Match.
It seems that the Fix Match is using the mismatched details instead of the file/folder name to search for potential matches. The upshot of this is that if I try to get Clarence (2014) to fix match to Clarence there are no titles presented even close to the correct one and that seems like broken functionality to me. Seriously, Plex thinks that Who’s Cooking with Florence Henderson is a better match for Clarence than Clarence.
To compound the problems with Fix Match, it is also not possible to correct the incorrect details in the search options. You can enter the correct details but clicking search instantly reverts to the mismatched detail. Again, this looks like broken functionality to me.
This is just one example, I can say the same for any mismatched show. Yes, updating the folder name to include extra data that would assist the initial match would help but the match/fix match should work.
D:\E.R.\ matches to E/R (1984), Fix match does not give E.R. as an option but does give The Irish R.M. as an option.
Most of the time the match does identify shows correctly but there will always be the odd few items here and there that don’t match up and as things stand right now users would be better served by removing the fix match option so that they have to unmatch and match manually than use fix match.
The expectation should be that the fix match function should provide matches should in some way approximate the show that have been mismatched. That is not an incorrect expectation.
As I said, it is recommended to add data to the folder name such as the year or the show ID but the fix match should allow you to fix the match.
Furthermore, the expectation that you should be able to correct the incorrectly matched data in the fix match function is also not incorrect. The fix match feature is non functional in that is does not present matches that fit the media. Who’s Cooking with Florence Henderson is not better match for Clarence than Clarence.
I should realistically expect to be able to correct the mismatched data in the fix match feature. Please explain to me how I am wrong here.

I tried to report this previously but was unhelpfully told that my expectations were wrong.
I cannot match media with correctly named show names.
I cannot fix match any incorrectly matched media because the fix is based on the mismatched show names.
This is not user error or an incorrect expectation.
If I try to fix the match The Pact (2021) is not presented as an option but Guilty: The Woman Who Made a Pact with the Devil (2009) is among 19 suggestions which do not match the file name or the show name. The naming, as I reported previously is 100% correct but unlike previously I cannot unmatch to fix the match because there are zero results that match what I search and, as mentioned previously the incorrect match persists in the fix match fields even if overwritten. Only when I manually edit the show does it affect the fix match yet in this case it still does not find the show. I thought perhaps the show had been removed from TheTVDB for some reason but it is there. https://thetvdb.com/series/the-pact-2021
My TV show naming has always been automated, based on TheTVDB and historically I have had very little difficulty with shows not matching but after my Synology seems to have rebuilt my TV library and am now in the process of correcting about 400 mismatches which I now cannot match by fix match but in most cases if I unmatch and then match, the correct show appears as the first option so if it is the first option how are they being mismatched in the first place?
This problem is not limited to the Synology, Windows machines have the exact same issue.
Both match and fix match seem in some way broken. Please help.
