I’m trying to add Lonesome Dove to my movie library. Yes, it did come out as a tv series initially but I’d rather it be in my movie library, not my TV one. I’ve added it but can’t match it since it’s a tv series and not technically a movie…
You can’t selectively add a single series to a tv show library.
A tv show library needs to be directed at the folder, where all of your tv shows are stored – each within its own sub-folder.
For files to get recognized as a tv show, they need to be named like a tv show and organized into subfolders like a tv show.
That’s correctly named. (Though I’d add the (year) to the folder name as well.)
However, your files are using the mp4/m4v container, which means Plex can read their embedded “Title” meta tags.
Quite often, these tags usually contain incorrect titles, which can throw off Plex’s recognition.
So, you need to tell Plex to ignore the embedded title metatags by doing this:
Go to
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie (Legacy)
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
Your screenshot shows the word “remote” and UNIX-style path names. Are you sure that your server is running on Windows? Because if it runs on Linux or other UNIX-style OS’s, there is also the matter of access permissions to consider.
I had already done those steps last week when I couldn’t get Plex to update posters… turned out I needed an update to my terramaster… once I did that and the “plex dance”, they were working again… so I’m not sure why it’s not working now since I’ve already made those changes to the agent lists.
