Why all the hostility? There are millions of paying customers without your issue, follow the advice given and sort out your Library naming conventions and agent order. There are many support pages just google search to find them or go to:
Here’s an example. I have a movie named “Hotel Transylvania (2012).mkv” in a folder named “Movies” which is linked to a Movie library in Plex. It doesn’t matter if Plex attempts the match automatically, or if I select a match using “Fix Match…”, plex never matches anything. When I use the latter (Fix Match), Plex (eventually) displays a list of movies. I select the correct one from the list, and then just watch Plex display an orange spinner over the movie. It spins and spins, but nothing ever matches. It did this for another movie too. The naming convention is correct and my agents are configured properly.
I just tried to do a “Fix Match” again today. This is after making no changes to file names nor any configuration changes. Plex did match properly. This is my point, this matching functionality sometimes works, but, as I have found, often does not. Is there anyone from Plex who can answer? Was something “down” yesterday. Are there frequent issues with this service?
I think that there is something more in play in your file system or configuration rather than Plex itself. The matching works every time for myself and a lot of others.
I doubt that’s the case. This feels like a problem with their matching service, something intermittent. Since we can’t talk to anyone at Plex, there’s no way to confirm either way.
If that was the case a lot more people would be seeing the problem. It could be a permissions problem a directory problem. The movie matching gets it right every time for me.
