Fixing Unmatched Movies

Long story short I screwed up something and now I have 100’s of movies that are no longer matched. I would like to avoid doing the Plex Dance if possible. Is there any way for me to have plex automatically match all movies that are not currently matched?

First of all, if your Movies were correctly named, Plex could not get them wrong. Make sure they are named correctly according to the Plex naming guidelines and the actual file content. See the File Naming in Plex, link in my signature.

If you make any changes to the file names you will most likely need to Plex Dance them.

If your files are already correctly named, then you may only need to ‘Fix Match’ the files. Click on a files poster (avoiding any icons that appear on the poster) and then click on … on the top right of screen and select Fix Match.

In the Fix Match dialogue click on Search Options and make sure you have the correct details to search with then click on Search. Choose the correct match from the results that are returned.

Sorry, there is no way to automate the Fix Match process. The closest thing would be to Plex Dance the files after correctly naming them.

Plex Dance (© OttoKerner):

  1. Remove offending files from your Plex Media Folder. (Make sure Plex cannot see the files at all)
  2. Scan Library Files (Not ‘Refresh All Metadata’)
  3. Optimise Database
  4. Empty Trash
  5. Clean Bundles
  6. Replace offending file/s into your Plex Media Folder.
  7. Update Library

Wait for each step to complete before moving to the next step.
