Max User Limit Reached With Less Than 12 People

I have a plex server running and one of my kids is making their own account isntead of being under my Home Users. When I try to grant her access to the library I get the “Too many users” error yet I only have 10 Home Users and 9 Friends and only 1 of them actually had access to the library. Reading up online it appears that there is a hard limit of 100 users. Is there some kind of list that I can look through to see that isn’t apart of the Home tab or Friends tab? I also have Plex Pass if that makes any kind of difference.

Are you adding by plex username or by email address. Read through this thread.

Thank you for that link, I think that could very well be what the issue was as she had just created the account and sent me a friends request. I then immediately tried to add her and got the error. I ended up removing a friend who hasn’t accessed anything in years to get her added. I didn’t see anything that explained why but is this a bug or is there an actual explination on the difference between adding via email vs a user account?

There is a limit of 100 “friends” who are granted access to your server. There is also a much lower limit of number of accounts that can be invited into your Plex Home. If you can “swap user” to any of these other accounts, then they are in your home, and are probably bumping up against the “Plex Home” user count limit.

Yes, I had read about the 100 user limit which is why I was so confused as I only had 11 people total that had actual access to my server. I was trying to figure out if there was some kind of hangup where friends that have access somehow had used multiple slots from past servers invites as I’ve had to rebuild the server a couple of times. They’ve always used the same accounts, I just had to send them access invites each time.

Appreciate the help. Seems like there’s some kind of bug with this issue.

Are you inviting you kid as a friend or as a Plex Home membe? Plex Home has a limit of 12, including you, so if you already have 11 other members, you are at the limit. If you are inviting as a regular friend, try using their email. I don’t think the bug using a username has been fixed.

I was inviting her as a friend. She used to be on the home account but that only had 8 users.
