Hi, I have a small problem when I use plex on my PC for the TV there is full resolution but when I use my ipad I can reach a maximum of 360 in resolution. anything I can do about it ???
There’s a number of possible causes for what you experience:
- Plex considers the stream to be remote and applies a bitrate restriction you set on your server for remote streams
- Plex considers the stream to be remote but there’s an issue with the remote access configuration/setup, resulting the stream to go through a Plex relay server (=indirect stream) – those indirect connections have a 1 Mbps bitrate limit (2 Mbps for Plex Pass members)
- The connection is local but for some reason you have a really lousy WLAN connection to your iPad
- The client cannot play the media as-is and asks your server to transcode it… if the server isn’t powerful enough, it’ll scale the output down until it’s able to do so in realtime.
