Media does not start playing. No idea why

For AndroidTV, there is an issue with Refresh Rate Switching and Resolution Switching that affects video playback. See the description in the articles linked below. It is a known issue and will be fixed in a future update.

If you are experiencing the same problem, as a workaround, in the Plex app settings, disable both Refresh Rate Switching and Resolution Switching.

I have been having an issue that seems to have started a couple of months ago so came of the beta but have tracked the issue back to the new video player in the Android TV (Nvidia Shield 2015 running via HDMI to a AVR) player. So the issue I go to play a video and sometimes (not everytime) I get a blank screen, if I bring up the navigation bar and press pause and then play the video will start but the sound will be out of sync. Hi there A bug developers should really be aware of @sixones Plex for Android 7.30.1 Using refresh rate switching, HDMI, AVR with all the normal settings to enable original quality playback. Sometimes, i.e over 50% of the time, playback wont start. I’ll have to pause it, unpause it and it’ll start playing ok… but with a video delay (audio ahead of video). I think something is broken in regards to refresh rate switching somewhere. This is on the latest Plex for Android 7.30.1 on SHIELD TV (…
