My Synology drive is connected to my computer which auto uploads media to it when new media is added. The issue is that Plex never updates when the media is added to my Synology drive. I still can’t figure out what eventually makes the update work, but this last time I was installing Emby and emby was updating my libraries and that finally caused Synology to update my media.
This happened a few weeks ago where I was pretty much fed up with Plex on my drive and I uninstalled it and reinstalled and only that was the thing that updated my media.
I tried manually scanning for files, removing permissions and adding the Read and Write permissions back to my folders, refreshing all meta data, and even removing the folder on plex and adding it back. None of that works. It seems like the only thing that works is when something externally changes the folders and that causes Plex to retrieve the new media
I believe I see what’s happening. I have my folders automatically syncing with my seed box. And when a new folder or file is added to my library the permissions aren’t given to Plex even though everything else has that permission. I guess we have to figure out how to always give permission to new file and folders if it’s in the library folder on plex
Even setting Plex to the Sync group it still doesn’t matter. I have to go to update all of my setting for each folder each time to resync the permissions
