Media on Firestick Crashes

Plex Support,

It appears this forum is absolutely packed with issues which are similar and go back to June.

My issue:

When watching media, it crashes and goes back to the sign in.

I used to be able to resolve this by clearing the cache which no longer works. However, seeing a member of the Plex team assuring people this was fixed in 8.19 and I am using 8.21 which has not resolved the issue.

Can someone please enlighten me what is being done and if there is a work around? Its odd to see so many topics here unanswered by Plex Support.

Plex doesn’t go back to sign-in when it crashes for me and my other devices, although I have mine set to automatically sign-in to my users, but if I play media it lags/hangs then crashes, the app restart itself and then the same media can play without any issues.

I agree wholeheartedly. It still crashes frequently when playing despite downloading new version after new version

They obviously do not care… I wish there was an alternative out there that is as easy to use. I would leave instantly.

I have a firestick and updated on 11/18/2021 the server (win 11) and firestick app. Videos play for 3 seconds then plex app restarts. I downloaded VLC player on firestick. It sees the plex server app and I can play videos using VLC on the firestick with no issue. Removed plex app on firestick and it will not re-install. I get a ‘maybe there isn’t enough room to install app’ message, but there is 2GB free. As a work around, use VLC. The interface is not great, but it will play. Maybe if you make playlists or something in Plex server, navigation would be easier.
