Media Playback Buffering

I have the updated Plex Media Sever; I have it running on Windows Server 2012R2. I am trying to play my media on this server via a Roku1, it constantly buffers, worse than it ever has. I have 60m down/6m up for internet, I have a solid router. I have tried the following…

It still buffers, I have changed the playback mode to like 4mbps, it still buffers. I can stream Hulu and Netfllix just fine, just when I am trying to stream anything on my Plex Media server, it constantly buffers.

Any thoughts? Would an updated Roku fix it, I have an old Roku, it just lately has started to do this.

Any help?

I would first check hardware (rj45 connection and wires) get a LAN tester. Make sure your LAN is solid. Next I would watch my streaming server CPU usage, go from there. Also you need to check the data feed, is it USB or plugged into the same router. Also some media from what I noticed considering the way it’s encoded can cause problems. I’d say one out of 25 media files I get online need to be reprocessed because for whatever reason Plex seems to reject it, Buffering.
