Media Server Interoperability Between versions of MacOS

Hi! I’m looking to do a major transition (over 100K songs) from Apple Music to Plex Media Server. My current Plex Media Server setup is running on an older MacBook Pro that has maxed out on MacOS Monterey (12.7). It’s there I’m planning to begin transitioning over all of my media. However, the day will come when that machine dies and I’ll be upgrading it and will probably need to jump a couple versions of the MacOS.

My question is, how durable is the music library structure between versions Plex on different MacOS’s? Would there be any possible pitfalls if I needed to move my Plex media library from one computer to another - and still be able to keep all my playlists, rankings, etc.

Any help in untangling this question, and reducing anxiety of such a big move, would be really appreciated!

As long as you backup and restore per the standard method below, everything will be restored 100% and function the same.

Side note; you’ll be shocked about how well everything (not just Plex) performs on the new Apple Silicone. I have the M2 15" Air and I don’t envision having to upgrade this beast for a few years at least. (Although full disclosure, my Plex server is on a dedicated Windows desktop because of all the drives).
