I currently have a Mac Server (running Sierra OS), but its an older computer and I’m starting to have hardware problems, so I have a PC (running windows 10) that I would like to move the server to. My plex server version is 1.10.0.4523.
I’ve backed up the Server. I would like to take the server off-line, set up the PC, and restore the backup.
Couple issues…
How do I keep my “played movie lists, etc.” since I’m moving from MAC to PC? Will it just work?
Also, my primary mode of storage for the media is a removable disk (3TB), which is currently being used by the MAC. So, I’m going to take it off-line, reformat the removable disk using the PC, and restore the media.
I also have an HDHomeRun attached that I can view live TV and DVR with.
Can I ensure that I’ll get all my modifications? or will I have to start over by “watching” shows, etc?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Chuck
Have you seen this article? Move an Install to Another System. Watched status, users, etc are stored in Plex database.
Now when it comes to moving your media. First of all, go to settings->Library and disable “Empty trash automatically after every scan”. Once you migrate and start Plex on destination machine, add new destination to libraries, let Plex recognize the changes. After rescan you can remove old paths.
