Do you have Verizon or Comcast, their Routers have protection that thinks Plex is malware?
I have a netgear router.
What result do you get when you use https://www.canyouseeme.org/ to test your public IP and Port?
Have you rebooted your router recently?
I rebooted my router recently. I have been running for over a year and started having this problem last week.
Now when I Open Plex, I receive a 503 error (Service Unavailable). I am running the web browser on the same PC where my server is.
I am having the exact same problem. It started on Feb 14th when I installed update 1.18.7.2415. I lose connection with the server when using Plex Web (which is running on same PC as server/media library). Been trying to reproduce the connection issue, and so far, the problem seems to arise when I launch and use iTunes on my server. I have been running Plex since 2012 and iTunes since 2013 and never had this problem before. The only way I can recover is to reboot my router and then reboot the server. I was thinking of reverting to 1.18.6.2368 (last version that worked properly), but hoped for a fix from Plex. Two new updates since Feb 14, but problem is still alive and well. Any ideas?
Exact same issues here with two newer Samsung Smart Tvs.
I am on a Macintosh running Mojave. I upgrade to 1.18.7 and Plex loses contact with my server.
I. have to revert to PMS 1.18.6 and Plex is working again.
Is there something new which I have to do to reestablish connection details with Plex?
Where can I go to get the PMS 1.18.6 so I can revert.
Can’t watch Plex on any of my Samsung TVs locally on my network. They all say the same thing, “Can’t connect to Server.” Well, all my other devices certainly can.
Previous updates should be saved in your updates folder on the Plex Media Server directory for windows.
Same issue here. Just started this morning.
Something is definitely wrong with this so-called “update”.
I have also reverted back to 1.18.6.
Everything running smoothly now.
Latest update: Since I could only clear out the problem by rebooting the router, I decided to look at the router log. I see MANY instances of [DoS attack: ACK Scan] from source: xxx.xxx.x.x:xxx… (I’m leaving out the IP’s, since I don’t know what I’d be disclosing). These “attacks” are occurring at the exact time that the server becomes unreachable.
Also: Server unreachable problem has not surfaced once, since I stopped using iTunes (18 hrs ago)…
Thank you! I was having the same issue with media server losing connection constantly. Reverted to 1.18.6 and problem solved. Hopefully developers resolve the issue for future builds.
Re-installed 1.1.8.6 and my server is back…
Thanks for the logs. There appears to be a bug in the area of loading an iTunes library into Plex.
This is already with our development team

The server locks up after logging this error
Same issue with OS X. Reverted to 1.1.8.5 (couldn’t find 6) and everything is back and working.
As an alternative to reverting to 1.18.6, simply disabling the iTunes plugin in Plex, makes the problem go away.
An update just went out with a fix
