Plex keeps becoming UNREACHABLE

Over the past month or so my Plex server keeps becoming unreachable. Even when I right-click the icon and choose exit to close the server so I can re-launch it, it still shows in the Task manager. I have to completely end task for all Plex EXE’s and then relaunch.

This is happening VERY frequently. Many times a day. I’ve been running plex for years and only ever had random server crashes. This is getting annoying. Thus this post.

I just upgraded to Version 1.18.7.2438. Maybe that will make a difference.

I see many other people posting similar problems but no solutions so maybe someone has a solution for me?

I think I’m supposed to post logs so they’re attached.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-02-22_10-14-44.zip (4.0 MB)

Thanks.

I can see the issue that has just started to get reported by users after 1.18.7 went out.

It is a lockout after an error to load an iTunes library into Plex

I have referred it to our development team

Are you saying you had this issue before 1.18.7 ?

Could i get logs from others - especially if no iTunes Library is involved

Did you download an earlier version ?
where?
or was it from backup.

I had a similar issue. My library stopped connecting to my server (both on the same machine) yesterday, and I couldn’t figure out what had happened. Going through the list of troubleshooting items on the " Why can’t the Plex app find or connect to my Plex Media Server?" page yielded no help.

I saw a forum where someone suggested downgrading to a previous version of Plex so I did some more digging and found a site with previous versions. Downloaded 1.18.3.2156-349e9837e, removed the current version and tried this and it worked without any problem.

I’m very happy to have my library working again and will be happy to share any info that might be helpful in debugging, I’m just not sure what is useful.

Thank you…

Another user pointed me to a list of earlier versions here.

I downloaded a version from a couple of weeks ago.

I then uninstalled the version that wasn’t working, restarted my computer and installed the older version and it’s working fine now.

I was using a Microsoft Surface away from home for remote access to my Plex server at home it was working fine on the app that I downloaded for the surface for a bit then for some reason the Plex app froze and caused the plex server to disconnect…the surface Pro app is causes my remote server to disconnect and then I can’t use it on any other device like my phone unless I go home and reboot the computer so I’m thinking it has something to do with the Surface pro app…the plex web player on the surface is fine for remote access…not using app for surface anymore

Thanks for the link. I run two Plex servers on MacOS, one at home and one at work, (both using iTunes libraries).

Both became ‘unreachable’ with the 1.18.7 update.

Using your link I installed the 1.18.6 version, and everything is up and running.

I’ve been having the same issue since I installed the newest version of Plex Media Server on MacOS. I’ll reinstall the older version now. Its absurd how unstable my Server has been since the update

An update just went out with a fix
